'The Harrington Street Arts Center', a new art gallery opened in Kolkata on 11 January with an exciting show till Feb 1 titled 'Essential, Eclectic, Ephemeral', as a tribute to Late Paritosh Sen, featuring paintings and sculptures of renowned artists from all over India. The second show of the same gallery (5 Feb to 20 March) was a curated presentation by Dr. Paula Sengupta titled 'Stains on My Chintz' featuring the conceptual works of three artists from India, Archana Hande, Mumbai, Lavanya Mani, Baroda, Paula Sengupta, Kolkata and three from abroad, Teresa Cole, USA, Joscelyn Gardner, Canada and Michele Elliot, Australia. Sanchayan Ghosh presented his sight specific installation, video and light work titled 'Sisyphus Effect' at Experimenter gallery from 6 to 25 February.

Chitrakoot Gallery presented 'Intimate Jamini Roy' featuring his preliminary drawings from the collection of the gallery from 12 to 18 Feb. Sanjay Tulsyan presented an exhibition of the young artists from Chennai titled 'Search Within' at Gallery 88 (Feb 1 - 13) featuring the works of Benitha Perciyal K., Dimpy Menon, Parvathi Nayar, Prasanna Kumar N. and Siva M. Gallery Sanskriti presented small format water colours and acrylics on acrylic sheet by A. Rajeswara Rao titled 'Phir Wohi Doodh' (Feb 6 – 20). Studio 21 presented a solo show of Sourav Chatterjee titled 'Pulsation' from 19 Feb to 5 March. Bose Pacia presented till March 14 'Kunwarji's Ground' works of Dileep Sharma.

Indian Museum presented a very illuminating exhibition (Feb 2 - 12) on Life and Religion of Buddha as reflected in Indian Art featuring classical sculptures from 2nd century BC to 13th century AD from their own collection. 'Chinese and Indian Artists Since 1924' an exhibition of paintings and prints curated by Amitabha Bhattacharya was held at ICCR between 27 and 31 January. Akar Prakar presented abstract canvases of Akhilesh (Feb 12 - 27). 'Relation Next' a solo show of paintings by Sanatan Dinda was held at Academy of Fine Arts from 11 to 17 Feb. 'One World Family' an exhibition of abstract paintings by Tinku Das was held at Emami Chisel (11-21 Feb). Calcutta Port Officers' Club presented an open-air exhibition of sculptures by 13 renowned sculptors at 93, Chowringhee Road (13 to 15 Feb).

Annual exhibition of Rajya Charukala Parishad was held at Gaganendra pradarshanshala from 2 to 10 Feb. 'Parama' a group show of woman artists was presented by Gallery La Mere from 21 to 28 Feb. A group show of paintings by Subhas Pal and Tapan Biswas and sculptures by Mrinal Kanti Gayen was held at Birla Academy (16 to 21 Feb).

Birla Academy presented an exhibition of photographs by Leena Kejriwal titled 'East City Kolkata before the Camapign' from 6 Feb to 5 March. Seagull presented 'Disappearing Profession in Urban India', an exhibition of photographs by Clare Arni from 6 to 14 Feb. 'Double Exposer' a joint exposition of the photographs of Dr. Goutam Basu and Subhamoy Mitra was held at Birla Academy from 9 to 14 Feb.

Aakriti Art Gallery presented 'Lightness of Being Anxious', a solo exhibition of paintings and drawings by Ashoke Mullick from 17 Feb to 13 March.
