The most important event of this month is the show of MF Husain. It is unfortunate that Husain has been absent from the country for such a long time. There is little chance to see his new works in the near future. Gallery Rasa has presented from its own collection 100 limited edition graphic prints of his works from 27 February to 31 March.

Gallery Sanskriti presented from 22 to 24 February 'Mark of Masters 1 & 2' etchings of the masters of Indian art. The two portfolios contained limited edition etchings of Jatin Das, Jogen Chowdhury, Madhavi Parekh, Neeraj Goswami, Prafulla Dhanukar, Paresh Maity, Sanat Kar, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Suhas Roy, Shuvaprasanna, Anupam Sud, Arpana Caur, Dipak Banerjee, K. Laxma Goud, Lalitha Lajmi, Lalu Prasad Shaw, Nirmalendu Das, Sarbari Roy Chowdhury, and Yashpal Chandrakar. The project was conceived by Yashpal Chandrakar. The same gallery presented 24 limited edition serigraph prints of Shakti Barman from 5 to 13 March.

The show titled 'Symbols and Metaphors' was held at CIMA from 24 February to 3 April. It was a selection of paintings from the previous shows of the same gallery. 14 erotic sculptures in bronze titled 'Beyond Desire' by the renowned painter Sunil Das were exhibited at Ganges Art Gallery from 27 Feb to 20 March. Calcutta Sculptors organized a group show titled 'Archi' at Academy of Fine Arts from 25 Feb to 3 March in memory of the young girl Archi Paul who lost her life a few months ago. The artists included were Shankar Ghosh, Sunil Das, Tapas Sarkar, Asit Paul, Ratan Banerjee, Samir Aich, Sanatan Dinda amongst others. In the same gallery during the same period Pintu Paul exhibited his paintings on women sex workers.

Gandhara Gallery presented 'Beyond Objecthood', a collection of abstract works curated by Oindrila Maity Surai at Nandalal Bose Gallery of Rabindranath Tagore Centre from March 3 to 11. The artists included were Adip Dutta, Akhilesh, Anupam Chakraborty, Arindam Chatterjee, Jayasri Chakraborty, Manjari Chakraborty, Nantu Behari Das, Samir Aich, Samindranath Majumder and others. The same curator presented another show at Mon Art Gallery titled 'The Way We Are' between 24 March and 7 April with the works of HG Arunkumar, Baiju Parthan, G. Bhagyanath, Chhatrapati Dutta, Gigi Scaria, PS Josh, Saikat Surai, Sunil Padwal and Vinayak Bhattacharya. Dr. Farida Zaman of Bangladesh exhibited her paintings at Jamini Roy gallery of Rabindranath Tagore Centre between 10 to 20 March.

Experimenter presented 'Minimal Landscapes'; abstract monochrome paintings by Prof. Ariel Ruij Altaba till 23 March. A very important show of drawings titled 'Logged' by artists from all over India was held at Emami Chisel Arts from 12 to 31 March. 15th group show of 'Frame' was held at Academy of Fine Arts featuring paintings of Arunangshu Roy, Bishwajit Saha, Debashis Samanta, Pran Gopal Ghosh, Sandhyakar Kayal, and Soumitra Kar. Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture presented their annual show with paintings of Lalit Mohan Sen (1898 – 1954).

Kolkata Museum of Modern Art (KMOMA) organized an international seminar 'Art in Public Space: Waste or Wonder' on 15 March at Hotel Taj Bangal.
