Sweden: On Friday, September 9, 2011(10 September  13 November) Sweeden witnessed the sixth edition of Goteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art which offered a preview of the exhibition. The curator, Professor Sarat Maharaj and his Co-Curators, Professor Gertrud Sandqvist and the Curators Dorothee Albrecht and Stina Edblom, presented their ideas behind the biennial. The curator, is currently Professor of Visual Art and Knowledge Systems at Lund University, Sweden and Visiting Research Professor at Goldsmiths College, London.. The cocurator Gertrud Sandqvist is Professor in Theory and History of Ideas in Visual Art at Malmö Art Academy at Lund University, Sweden.Curator Dorothee Albrecht is an artist and assistant curator of the 29th São Paulo Biennial. The other curator Stina Edblom currently holds the position as exhibition curator at Göteborg Konsthall and as assisting curator of the 29th São Paulo Biennial.

John Milton's epic Paradise Lost (1671) inspires the theme, Pandemonium Art in a Time of Creativity Fever. Pandemonium is the castle built by Lucifer and his legions after the banishment from heaven. It is the foundation for the plot against the 'old order'. In today's world, The Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art sounds turbulent for new possibilities. What form of creativity is emerging in the aftermath of the radical social changes today? This year's biennial is a process, of in-depth reflection of the process. The performance program City Excavations initiated the biennial in June and served as a platform for artistic explorations of the city of Göteborg and its history. Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art and Röda Sten Art Center will receive a new permanent piece by, Olav Chrisopher Jenssen, the sculpture Lingaphone. Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art is organised by Röda Sten Art Centre, and is financed mainly by the City of Göteborg's Cultural Affairs committee, Region Västra Götaland and The Swedish Arts Council. A number of Summer Academies on the Biennial theme has been established in collaboration with the School of Photography and the School of Design, to further engage in the ideas of the biennial theme.

Catastrophically, suspecting a possible terrorist plot, the Swedish police ordered the evacuation on Saturday night at the opening of the event, causing 400 people leave the Röda Sten Art Center in haste. Police arrested four suspects of terrorism. The Swedish Security Service said, details remained under wraps yesterday due to "the ongoing preliminary investigation." CNN reports that three of the four men arrested, who range in age from 23 to 26, are of Somali origin, while the fourth is Iraqi. The art center's managing director, Mia Christersdotter Norman, told the New York Times that the police contacted her again, saying that they searched the building finding nothing. This suspected terrorist plot seems to be a conspiracy to murder the provocative artist and cartoonist Lars Vilks, whose drawing of Muhammad as a dog sparked controversy in 2007. One of the suspect was released, while the other three were charged of murder conspiracy rather than plotting terrorist acts. While Röda Sten is the main exhibition venue, the 2011 biennial will also take place at Göteborgs Konsthall and Göteborgs Konstmuseum.
