Gallery Espace presented Couple of Differences, an exhibition of recent sculptures by Karl Antao from November 10- 30, 2010. Born in 1966 and living and working in Ahmedabad, Antao is already a name to reckon with in the history of Indian sculpture and has won several awards.
The show 'Couple of Differences' was an intended satire on the interplay of the educated mind and its manipulative working process. The series of works highlight the crucial issue of lack of accountability in the society and the flourishing of 'accusatory exchanges' amongst the denizens. The sculptures exhibit fantasy making references to the dilemmas encountered in our quotidian existence. Karl employs his mastery in carving and enlivens his creation though the medium of burma teak and sevan wood.
