Wonderful month of June ! With the rains, many a gallery in Bengaluru launched the new art season with energy and passion.

Cinéma Vérité Redux
a
Sumukha organized Cinéma Vérité Redux, a show curated by Shaheen Merali. Video installations by Marina Roy, oil on wood portraits by Attila Richard Lukacs, inkjet prints by Prasad Raghavan, cut-out paintings on canvas stretched on wood by Subba Ghosh, photography by Ravikumar Kashi, black & white drawings by Parvathi Nayar and video installations by Charly Nijensohn. Shaheen intended to build a bridge between the Cinema Vérité, where the simplicity brings out the aesthetics, with the works of these seven artists. And he did it extremely well.

A Monochrome Symphony

Right Lines introduced new works of Nikhil Ranjan Pal. A Monochrome Symphony is a series of very romantic portraits inspired by Nikhil's life and environment. He shared with us in a very subtle way the different dialogues he has with his painted subjects.

Tapestry

Time & Space explored the works of Sophie Christopher, a tapestry artist. She blends fabrics and colours to bring joy and happiness to our walls.

The Charcoal Tales

Rupesh Patric made a remarkable entry in the art world showcasing for the first time his charcoal on paper works at the Welcomart Gallery. The Charcoal Tales were very refreshing.

Myriad Rhythms … .Symphony of Strokes and Colours

Art Chutney presented Myriad Rhythms … .Symphony of Strokes and Colours, Puja Bahri's solo show. Puja looks at different techniques to create for us unique paintings where bright colours and textures now became her trademark.

Fictional Divisions

Blue Spade brought to us Fictional Divisions, a group show exploring the rural-urban divide. Five Bengaluru artists are sharing their views, each of them with a different personality.

Taste of Thailand

Hema Narayana, a photojournalist, added a Taste of Thailand to the Bengaluru art scene. She displayed very few of her many snapshots at OKO.

From Hong Kong to India

Galerie De Arts is introducing Shailaja Gidwani's From Hong Kong to India in July Shailaja is an Indian artist living in Hong Kong. Her works will take us to a very personal track where silhouettes, waves and skies are depicted. Interesting blend of cultures.

World Music day

The Alliance Française, The Max Mueller Bhavan and The National Gallery of Modern Art were as active as usual. They celebrated the World Music day, organized a graffiti workshop and showed documentaries about Picasso, Miro and all the legendary actors of the 20th century. Three places to keep in mind when it comes to find a bit of excitement in our week ends.
